Deonar dump fire in Mumbai that started sometime on January 27-28 still putting out smoke and making air toxic for breathing. The different part of the city has been experiencing smog and hazardous air quality. The change in the wind direction spreading the smoke for fires in different part of the city. NASA/NOAA satellite VIIRS images (top panels) from Jan 27-31, 2016 clearly show a wide spread of smoke from this fires. Today, satellite image shows heavy pollution/haze across the IGP region starting from Lahore to Dhaka. The entire IGP region was covered with thick layer of aerosols with aerosol optical depth values as high as 2.0. Delhi has been in the focus for poor air quality but other cities such as Lucknow, Varanasi, Patna, Kolkata observed similar conditions.
